KDIPA organizes a Diagnostic Workshop with the World Bank Group’s Doing Business Team.

Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) hosted a second diagnostic workshop with the Doing Business Team from the World Bank Group as part of the technical support agreement KDIPA signed with the World Bank for the reform of business environment in Kuwait. The workshop was held during 16 – 18 May 2016 at KDIPA’s offices in Al Hamra Tower. It was attended by the focal teams of the members of the Permanent Committee for Streamlining Business Environment in the State of Kuwait (PCK), including Ministries of Commerce & Industry, Justice, Finance, Electricity & Water, Central Bank of Kuwait, Kuwait Municipality, and the General Directorate of Customs.  Mrs Reem M. Al-Banwa, Director of Planning & Competitiveness Department, and the Rapporteur of PCK reviewed the agenda and explained to the participants the workshop’s goal, hoping to come out with a unified approach on how to improve Kuwait’s business environment in view of best practices.  During the workshop, the Doing Business Team of the World Bank addressed key topics that formulate the Ease of Doing Business Index 2016, and Kuwait’s position in it while also shedding light on the methodological changes introduced in Doing Business 2016 report, and Kuwait performance in regards to the new indices. The workshop concluded by providing the attendees with a clear understanding on key issues that need to be addressed in order to improve the country’s performance in the upcoming Ease of Doing Business Index 2017 and beyond.

PCK was established as per the Council of Ministers Decision No. 1551 issued on December 18, 2013, and is headed by KDIPA. The first diagnostic workshop was organized in January 11-13, 2015.
