KDIPA & JETRO co-organized a seminar promoting Kuwait’s investment opportunities to Japanese companies in Dubai

Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) organized an external seminar for promoting Kuwait and investment opportunities, on 13th December 2015, at JW Marriott Marquis in Dubai. The seminar was held in partnership with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), a government-related organization that promotes mutual trade and investment between Japan and the rest of the world. The seminar was attended by around 50 Japanese companies based in Dubai, that are interested in expanding their business across the region.  Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Director General of KDIPA, provided a presentation referring to the strength of Kuwait Japan bilateral relations, showcasing the unique attributes of Kuwait, lucrative investment opportunities, favorable legal and regulatory changes, highlights of the new investment Law No. 116 of 2013, particularly relevant incentives and exemptions. The event was attended by Mr. Masami Ando, Managing Director of JETRO Dubai & MENA, and Mr. Hiroyuki Hanawa, Economic Attaché at the Embassy of Japan to the State of Kuwait. This event builds on the success of a previous official visit undertaken by KDIPA’s Director General and an accompanying delegation to Japan earlier this year during the period  March 22-27, 2015, during which a series of talks were held with several high rank Japanese government officials, including the  Executive Vice President of JETRO, as well as leading Japanese companies.  Such events are conducive to support the existing strong bilateral relations between Kuwait and Japan, especially that both countries have signed a bilateral  investment treaty (BIT) on March 22, 2012 that entered into force on January 24, 2014.
