7 April, 2015: Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) participated in the 5th Edition of the Annual Investment Meeting (AIM) and its accompanying exhibition which was held at Dubai International Exhibition Centre and Conference, under the patronage of H.H. Sheikh Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President and Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, during the period from March 30th to April 1, 2015, under the theme “Sustainable Development Through FDI Induced Innovation and Technology Transfer”. H.E. Sultan Bin Saeed Al Mansouri , Minister of Economy of the United Arab Emirates delivered the opening speech in which he stressed the importance of this annual event for encouraging cross country flow of foreign direct investment (FDI), which is in line with the strategic direction of UAE towards building its knowledge economy based on innovation to attain sustainability in its four dimensions namely economic, social, environmental, and good governance. Around 67 ministers of economy, commerce, and investment and other high level officials, as well as more than 7000 businessmen and investors, engaged in multilateral and bilateral meetings during the conference, and attended country presentations of investment climate and success stories. Around 140 counties took part in the exhibition with more than 500 showcasing their products, services and projects in various sectors. Kuwait was represented by KDIPA’s delegation who received several visitors from high ranking officials, interested investors, international experts, and representatives of other Investment Promotion Authorities. KDIPA’s delegation responded to various inquiries concerning Law No. 116/2013 regarding the Promotion of Direct Investment in the State of Kuwait, presented potential investment opportunities, and highlighted the latest developments in the investment climate, as well as the economic laws that were recently approved, and the measures undertaken by the government to streamline the business environment in the State of Kuwait.
