10 May, 2015: Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) received at its premises on Wednesday May 6, 2015 at 11 am the delegation attending the Arab Planning Institute (API) training program “Means of Promoting Investment Opportunities & Attracting FDI” held during the period May 3-7, 2015. The delegation is composed of 18 representatives are coming from various governmental and regional entities in areas relating to investment promotion, trade exchange, planning, development, employment, and statistics, from several Arab countries including Sultanate of Oman, Egypt, Sudan, Jordan, and Comoros Islands. Mr. Mohamed Yousef Yaqoub, Assistant Director General for Business Development, welcomed the attendees, and briefed them on the developments encountered after the replacement of Law No. 116 of 2013 to Law No. 8 of 2001, and establishment of KDIPA. Then Mr. Khaled A. Al Zaid provided a presentation on the One Stop Shop (OSS) operations, explaining the procedures roadmap, the types of legal entities and the incentives & exemptions allowed under the Law. Mr. Bader S. Al Gadi, Head of Investment Promotion Section, showcased the various promotional and media channels utilized to brand Kuwait and position it as a lucrative investment destination. On her turn, Mrs. Mona S. Bseiso, Economic Consultant, and member of the Permanent Committee for Streamlining Doing Business in Kuwait, shed light on KDIPA’s advocacy role, which supports its regulatory and promotional roles, analyzing Kuwait position in Ease of Doing Business Index. There was a Q&A session after which the Assistant Deputy General for Business Development reiterated the importance of continued cooperation between KDIPA and API. In the same token, the Economic Consultant, presented a lecture within this training program on “Social Media & Investment Promotion” on May 7, 2015 at API premises, accompanied by Ms. Sara Safar, in charge of KDIPA social media and website news.
