KDIPA was invited by UNDP Kuwait office to attend the launch of Global Report on “Mapping the Oil & Gas Industry to the Sustainable Development Goals: An Atlas” on September 13, 2017. This report illustrates how the oil and gas industry links to and can contribute to address the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and integrate their targets into the industry’s core business operations as well as by identifying opportunities for oil and gas companies to collaborate with other stakeholders, and leverage experiences and recourses to implement such goals.
The event was inaugurated by H.E. Minister of Social Affairs and Labor, State Minister for Economic Affairs Hind Al Sabeeh. A panel discussion was moderated by Dr Khaled Mahdi, Secretary General of the Supreme Council for Planning & Development, involving KPC and Equate.
The event represent a milestone for Kuwait to be chosen, given its leading role in the production and export of oil, as the location for launching this global Atlas that details the crucial role of the Oil and Gas industry in attaining the SDGs targets and indicators. It further contributes to the prominence of Kuwait’s international position and its resolve to meet commitments.
