Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) participated in the first Kuwait Public Policy Centre (KPPC) Lecture Series for 2019/2020 titled “Digital, the New Highway to success for Small Territories” given by Mr. Denis Jacquet, held on September 29, 2019 at the General Secretariat of the Supreme Council for Planning and Development (GSSCPD) headquarters. The speaker, Mr. Jacquet is an entrepreneur and founder of Day One Event, an event held around the utilization of digital technology for humanity. The lecture presented the current trends in Artificial intelligence and big data, the rise of China as a major player in technological innovation. He focused on the potential opportunities offered by the digital revolution to small territories as they look for a way to differentiate themselves from competing countries. The digital revolution serves as a vital tool used to formulate a digital strategy based on focused vision, hi-tech talents, encourage start-ups and scale ups serving delivery platform needs, building regional alliances, and sharing the benefits. Mr. Jacquet concluded by summarizing potential for small territories to succeed, in reference to e-Estonia, and Monaco experiences, in considering initiatives like digital government, smart cities, online administration, supporting education, security, blockchain, and crypto currencies, and use country to test, learn and growth of innovation.
