Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) participated as part of the Kuwaiti delegation to the fourth meeting of the Kuwait-Qatar Supreme Joint Committee that was held during the period January 10-11, 2016 in the Qatari capital, Doha. The Kuwaiti delegation was headed by H.E. First Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Sheikh Sabah Khaled Al-Hamad Al-Sabah, and H.E. Dr. Khalid bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, Foreign Minister, headed the Qatari side. The Kuwaiti delegation was composed of high-ranking officials representing 24 various government entities. Ms. Awrad Al Kazemi, legal researcher, International Agreements Section, represented KDIPA. The meeting concluded by signing 9 bilateral agreements and MoUs that aim to further enhance the bilateral relations, and foster their close collaboration, making the total agreements signed to date between both parties 24. Alongside the meeting, KDIPA’s representative visited the Director of International Cooperation & Trade and Economic Agreements at the Qatari Ministry of Economy and Commerce, whereby KDIPA’s aims and vision were explained and highlights of Law 116 of 2013 were discussed. The meeting tackled the exemptions and incentives offered to foreign investors in accordance with the Law, and available investment opportunities, and ended by identifying potential areas of cooperation. It is worth mentioning that Kuwait and Qatar inter-investments reached more than US$ 7 billion covering various sectors, and their inter-tourism reached around 700,000 travelers in 2015
