Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) participated in the inauguration of the General Electric Kuwait Technology Center (GEKTC) on October 13, 2016 at the Center’s location in Al Sulaibiya, Kuwait.
The inauguration ceremony opened with speeches by Mr. Steve Bolze, President and CEO of GE Power, H. E. Dr. Yousef Al Ali, Minister of Commerce & Industry and Chairman of the Board of Directors of KDIPA, H.E. Mr. Ahmed Al Jassar, Minister of Electricity and Water, and Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Director General of KDIPA, and Mr. Manaf Al Hajeri, CEO of Kuwait Financial Centre (Markaz). High-ranking officials and leaders were in attendance for the inauguration of the GEKTC, which was established with the support of KDIPA.
GEKTC was granted an investment license by KDIPA in September 2015, to open their unique, state-of-the-art facility which is the first of its kind outside of the United States of America. The Center is set to feature tooling, engineering, and training facilities, to launch comprehensive training programs aimed at building Kuwaiti talent development in the technical sector. Moreover, the Center’s engineering research lab will host modern testing labs and computer simulators which will help in improving the understanding of power generation operations and troubleshooting methodologies in harsh environments.
