KDIPA organized the fifth annual meeting with the Doing Business Team in Washington D.C to discuss the latest reforms of the 2022 report that was held virtually over a two-day period on July 8 and 12, 2021. This is in line with KDIPA’s role in presiding over the Permanent Committee for Streamlining Business Environment & Enhancing Competitiveness in the State of Kuwait (PCK).
The meeting was headed by KDIPA Director General and Head of PCK, Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, with the participation of Mr. Ahmad Al-Rasheedi, Member of the Permanent Committee, representing the Ministry of Electricity & Water & Renewable Energy, and Eng. Suha Ashkanani representing the Public Authority for Roads and Transportation. Furthermore, the work teams for each of the components of the ease of doing business index representing concerned government agencies related to the business environment in the State of Kuwait also participated in this meeting with the report’s team of experts.
During the two days, Kuwait’s position in the Doing Business Report 2022 (DB2022) was discussed by the work teams that provided visual presentations of the newly developed e-services, and gave a detailed explanation showing the sequence of procedures and reforms that took place during the reporting year and the effect it achieved in terms of reducing the number of procedures, duration, and cost.
The team also provided an explanation of the new legislations that were approved during the past year, along with the relevant decisions and circulars that would push towards required legal reforms in accordance with international best practices for the following components: dealing with construction permits, getting electricity, registering property, enforcing contracts, protecting minority investors, trading across borders, contracting with the government and insolvency settlement.
KDIPA was represented by Mrs. Fatima H. Al Sayegh, Director of the Technical Office Dept. and Rapporteur of PCK; Mrs. Mona S. Bseiso, Economic Consultant and member of PCK, Mr. Amr Wageeh, Legal Consultant, Eng. Farah AlOjairi and Eng. Ebtehal AlMesbah, from the Economic Zones Department.
