Under the patronage of His Highness the Emir of Kuwait Sheikh Sabah Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Kuwait will host the 15th Industrialists’ Conference under the theme: “Foreign Direct Investment in GCC and its Impact on Industry”. The conference is organized by the Gulf Organization for Industrial Consulting (GOIC), in cooperation with Kuwait Ministry of Commerce & Industry, the Public Authority for Industry (PAI), the Industrial Bank of Kuwait (IBK), Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA), Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI), the Kuwait Industries Union (KIU), and in coordination with the Secretariat of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), and the Federation of GCC Chambers (FGCCC). It is expected to be attended by the GCC Ministers of Industry, along with a other high ranking officials, decision makers, representatives of investment promotion agencies, the business community, industrial investors, and experts from international and regional trade and investment organizations. The conference is structured around five main themes that include: FDI reality, development & incentives in the GCC; the impact of FDI in the GCC; the role of the private sector & SMEs in attracting FDI; streamlining business environment in GCC; FDI role in technology transfer & building the pillars of knowledge in the industrial sector.The conference aims, through the specialized papers presented and the deliberations conducted to identify comprehensive strategy to develop the industrial sector in order to attract more FDI; create a more promising investment environment; introduce more accommodating legislations; developing attractive incentives for foreign investors; and strengthen the level of competitiveness of GCC countries. The conference is considered one of the important platforms that bring together the policy makers and the industrialists since GOIC launched its first conference in 1985 held in Doha, Qatar to be held bi-annually thereon. This is the second time to cover FDUI as the 8th conference held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia was under the theme “Opening up for FDI in the GCC and its Excepted Impact on the Industrial Sector”.
