Permanent Committee for Streamlining Business Environment in Kuwait, headed by KDIPA’s Director General, holds a meeting

The Permanent Committee for Streamlining Business Environment in Kuwait (Permanent Committee), chaired by Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) in accordance with the Council of Ministers resolution No. 1551/2013, held a meeting on 16 December, 2015. The meeting was attended by three out of seven of its members representing the Central Bank of Kuwait, the Ministry of Electricity & Water, and the General Administration of Customs. Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al Ahmad Al Sabah, Director General of KDIPA, and the Chairman of the Permanent Committee, welcomed the attendees. He provided an overview of the most important developments that took place during the last period, and explained the measures taken based on the Permanent Committee’s recommendations from the previous meetings. Furthermore, he updated the members of the Permanent Committee on the status of the technical cooperation agreement with the World Bank Group to improve the business environment in Kuwait. A technical presentation was given at the meeting, showing pertinent developments of Kuwait’s position in the Ease of Doing Business Report 2016.  The proposition of formulating follow-up teams in each of the member government entities was discussed. The members of the committee were provided with the third report of the Permanent Committee, submitted earlier to the Council of Ministers. The meeting concluded by revealing the roadmap milestones to initiate the process of compiling the needed information for preparing the “Third Official National Report for the State of Kuwait for Doing Business 2017” in cooperation with the members of the permanent committee, and other concerned parties. The final version will be duly sent to the Doing Business Team within the World Bank Group at the set deadline.
