Kuwait Direct Investment Promotion Authority (KDIPA) has participated in the first Arab Africa Economic Forum held in Kuwait during the period November 11-12, 2013, under the patronage of H.H. Prime Minister of the State of Kuwait represented by H.E. Minister of Finance. The forum was co-organized by the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development (KFAED), African Union Commission, and the League of Arab States. This forum comes as part of a series of sequential activities planned ahead of the third Arab Africa Summit held in Kuwait during the period November 19-20, 2013. The participants reviewed the current status of Africa-Arab cooperation in areas related to investment, trade and development issues, and discussed potential investment opportunities, means to enhance trade exchange, role of non-governmental organizations to support African efforts to attain the Millennium Development Goal (MDGs). Also potential sectors and areas for public and private investments were highlighted focusing mainly on the fields of agriculture and food security. Views were also exchanged on the reasons underlying the weak investment flows between African and Arab countries and identifying various means to address them. The forum concluded with several recommendations on various themes, and a general request for it to become a recurrent event to review current investment situation and develop its future outlook between both parties.
