Under the patronage of H.E. Minister of Commerce and Industry (MOCI) and Minister of State for Services Affairs Khaled Nasser Al-Roudan, the Fifth Public – Private Dialogue on Doing Business in Kuwait which was hosted by the Kuwait Chamber of Commerce & Industry (KCCI) on March 11, 2019. H.E. Sheikh Dr. Meshaal Jaber Al-Ahmad Al-Sabah, Director General of KDIPA and the Head of the Permanent Committee for Streamlining Business Environment and Enhancing Competitiveness in Kuwait (PCK) welcome the quested and gave the opening speech.
H.E. Mr. Khaled Naser Al-Roudan gave the keynote speech in which he expressed the extent of the seriousness of the governmental entities in making improvements in electronic connectivity along with legislation that looks to make the business environment in Kuwait attractive for investment and doing business.
Mrs. Fatima Hassan Al Sayegh, the Rapporteur of the PCK, presented the related developments on emerging mechanism to ensure proper implementation of the National agenda for streamlining business environment in Kuwait (Tahseen Program 2), thus the role of the working teams who showed relevant developments and information pertaining to measures undertaken and improvement impacting the business environment. The open dialogue program also included a summary of Kuwait position in the Ease of Doing Business Index 2019 presented Ms. Mona Salim Bseiso, member of the PCK.
Adawiya Al Failakawi, Director of the Kuwait Business Center (the National One-Stop-Shop) presented the legal and procedural developments and the practical achievements of the business start-up component of the Ministry of Commerce and Industry regarding the establishment of companies in the State of Kuwait and the role of the Kuwait Business Center in facilitating the procedures and expanding the use of electronic and online services to reduce the time, procedures and cost for business owners when establishing companies. Furthermore, a general overview was given by Ms. Dalal Marafie, from the World Bank office in Kuwait, on the overall results of the second phase of the technical support contract for the improvement of the business environment in Kuwait and the development of (Tahseen program 2). The event ended with a Q&A session. The attendees of the event included a member of the PCK, government officials, representatives of law firms, consulting and auditing companies and other private companies operating in Kuwait, as well as the heads of working groups of the various components of the ease of doing business index.
